MorgonSol Wellness interviews Sandy Simon — born and raised in Minnesota, this California-based ceramic artist, woman, and owner/creator of Trax Gallery is truly an inspiration.
Sandy shares her story, beginning with her childhood as the daughter of a nurse and a banker. She attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in the late 1960s, where she studied under renowned ceramic artists Warren MacKenzie and Curt Hoard. She reflects on her classmates and contemporaries, including Mark Pharis, Wayne Branum, Michael Simon, and Randy Johnston, all of whom went on to establish notable careers in clay.
Sandy takes us on a fascinating journey through her own unconventional path — including her time as a hippie living in a chicken coop in rural Georgia. After meeting Robert Brady, a well-known local artist, becoming a mother, and eventually starting her own gallery, Sandy’s story unfolds as a powerful reflection on what it means to live authentically.
Throughout the interview, she speaks to the importance of aligning with your truth, embracing freedom, and, above all, following your heart.

A space built for women, about women — celebrating health, humor, and the beautiful, messy, magnificent journey of every stage of life. Where each new day is an opportunity to align more closely with your values, your version of personal health, and connect with and be inspired by the extraordinary women in our world — the warriors of light, the incredible humans who show up, who grow, and who remind us what it means to live fully. Today I am interviewing Anita Lillie, so she can inspire and tell her story of being a woman in her stages of life.
